On this mission, the Badtz Maru was to intercept the John W. Brown, a WWII Liberty ship, as she left her berth in the outer harbor, and escort her down the Bay to the Bay Bridge, and then the Badtz would head back at higher speed. The John Brown organization was enthusiastic about our offer to escort them, and we like to think that it added something to their fund raising cruise to have another warship, even if of a later age, share the run down the bay. It should be noted that we very much support the John Brown project and hope to be of assistance to them in the future.
